Wolves were under the cosh for much of the match, especially during a first 45 minutes in which Dawson and his centre-back partner Maximilian Kilman were required to produce many last-ditch blocks to stop Newcastle from extending their advantage having gone in front.
But after Hee Chan Hwang’s equaliser was then cancelled out by Miguel Almiron’s winning strike, Dawson insists his teammates will now look to bounce back next weekend in their clash with Leeds United at Molineux.
On falling to Newcastle
“We’re obviously disappointed. It was a tough one to take but I think we let them have too much of the game in the first-half, which gives them confidence, it gave the crowd confidence.
“We’ve been in that position before and we got the goal back, so we’re obviously disappointed to concede the second goal and not to have held on in the end, but we’ve got to learn from that.
“We’ve got a big game next week, so we’ve got to prepare now and get ready for that game.”
On the possible penalty
“There was obviously a coming together [between Pope and Jimenez] and I asked the referee and he kind of said it was a coming together and I’ve not really seen it again.”
On another positive second-half showing
“You always want to start the game well and we gave them the upper hand, especially in the first-half, but we stayed in the game and although we were obviously disappointed to have gone behind, we got that goal, so it was even more disappointing to concede the second so late on.
“We had a good week on the training pitch so we’re disappointed to come here and not pick up anything.
“The dressing room has got to pick ourselves up now and prepare as we will do for the next one, which I already said is a big game.
On a big meeting with Leeds on Saturday
“We want to build momentum and these are the sorts of games that you need to win, so we’ll get back on the training pitch, work hard and try to get the win.”
