Maximilian Kilman has called on the Wolves group to “stay calm and regroup” after a chaotic defeat to Leeds United at Molineux.
Six goals, two red cards and a frustrated Molineux came out of Saturday, which saw Wolves concede sloppy goals, but also score twice to stage a second half fightback, which ultimately proved in vain. With the international weekend ahead of them, Wolves have the opportunity to refocus ahead of an important trip to Nottingham Forest in a fortnight - the start of a crucial ten-match run-in.
On the dressing room’s emotions
“It was really tough to take. I think after their first goal we started to press, started to dominate, and should have probably scored a few goals in the first half. In the second half things didn’t go our way, decisions didn’t go our way, and unfortunately we came away with a defeat.
“It was a big game for us, and we didn’t come away with the win, so it’s tough to take."
On the feeling at half-time
“We came in at half-time and it was positive. We showed towards the end of the first half how much we were pressing and really created some chances and I thought coming into the second half things would turn around, and we’d get some luck.”
On channelling the frustrations
“We’ll regroup, stay calm and we go again for the last ten games. We need to stay calm. We showed a lot of team spirit today, we showed a bit of fight. Things didn’t go our way, but we need to take it into the next game, rest and regroup.”
On the positives to take
“We showed a lot of fight, even at 3-0 down, we showed a lot of fight and need to build on that. Hopefully we can try and keep the ball out of the net and score a few goals the next game. Sometimes thing happen in football, you put more bodies forward and less bodies at the back, that’s just the nature of the game when you want to score at the end.
“Everyone knows what we need to do for the next game, there was a lot of pressure on this game and a lot of things didn’t go our way, so we’ve got to regroup and go again.”
On the penalty shout
“I didn’t see it, but from what everyone said it looked like a penalty. Last week and this week has been tough to take, but that’s football, we need to go again next week and make sure we’re ready after the international break.
“Of course, if we had a penalty in the first half, coming in for half-time at 1-1 would have changed a lot of things.”
