Costa | 'It was important to take something positive'

Diego Costa was able to savour his reunion with Chelsea on Saturday with a start and big three points for his current side.

The Spaniard led the Wolves line alongside Matheus Cunha on Saturday and caused problems for Chelsea, who were beaten by a stunning Matheus Nunes strike in the first half. Costa was withdrawn just after the hour mark, having ran his course, but linked up well with Cunha and now will be hoping to retain his shirt and help pull Wolves further up the Premier League table against Brentford this weekend.

On the need for a win

“It was a very important victory. Our opponents Chelsea are a great team and we are in a situation that is not too comfortable, so it was very important to take something positive and I'm really very happy.”

On the battle for survival

“With the players that we have it would be extremely painful if we were relegated. We have top quality players, very important ones, and we should stay in the Premier League, that's why Saturday's victory was so important.

“But we need to start thinking on the next match which are three more points and getting them would allow us to be a bit more comfortable to be more relaxed on the following matches.”

On competing with Jimenez up front

“He's a very important player who had been featuring a lot and he will be important. This match he didn't play but the next one he could be a starter because he's a player who provides a lot of assets for us.”

On facing his former club

“It's always a different sensation [to play against your former team]. It's a team where I lived the best moments of my professional career but I was very keen to beat them, with the situation we're in.”
