Julen Lopetegui’s first-team group got more minutes into their legs on Wednesday afternoon as pre-season continued to ramp up at Compton Park against Blackpool.
With each of Wolves' training matches increasing in duration ahead of the first official pre-season fixture against Porto on Tuesday, Lopetegui's side played two games of 60 minutes against the League One outfit.
A senior line-up started the opening hour, which saw Wolves open the scoring just after the break when Pablo Sarabia curled a free-kick into the top corner before Matheus Cunha added a second moments later. Nathan Fraser held the ball off the Blackpool defence, before laying it into Cunha's path, who struck a low effort into the net from the edge of the box.
Lopetegui rang the changes between the two hour-long matches as Sasa Kalajdzic returned to the pitch for the first time since September. Several under-21 players and first-team members who have recently returned to training were also able to get minutes under their belt, but were unable to deny Blackpool claiming victory in the second outing.
The Wolves squad will head out to Portugal later this week for another training camp and the fixture against Porto, before travelling to Dublin to face Celtic at the Aviva Stadium on Saturday 29th July.
