Silva | 'It’s going to be a good season for us'

Fabio Silva believes Wolves are set for a successful season, after he got back off the mark in old gold, as a place in the third round of the Carabao Cup was secured.

The Portuguese scored his first goal for the club in more than two years when he fired home Wolves’ second in a routine 5-0 win over League One Blackpool. Silva, who is back at Molineux after a pair of loans last season, came close on a number of occasions in the Premier League in recent weeks, and was pleased to see his hard work rewarded, as he helped his team into the next round.

On a successful evening

“It was good. I’ve waited a lot for this moment and it’s nice to score and help the team. I work all week to give my best game for the team, to be the best player I can be for the team, and I think the goals and assists will come naturally.

“I need to learn a lot, with the staff and my teammates, I have to do a good job and I’m in a good way. I worked all week with my teammates and the coach, and I think it’s going to be a good season for us.

“The most important thing is Crystal Palace now. It’s a good win, in a good competition, the Carabao Cup is nice to play in and we want to go in front. The first game we’ve won, we’re very happy, and now we must continue.”

On finding the back of the net

“As a striker, you always want to score. The most important is the way I fight for the team, and I try to do what the coach wants me to do, the tasks I have for the team. I scored two goals against Brighton and Everton, but two offsides, and then had more chances.

“I try always to review the games, to learn what I have to do to finish better. I stay with the coaches after training to improve my finishing because I’m 21 years old and I want to improve. We have a lot of good players to have a good season.

“Sarabia’s amazing. Everyone knows he has an amazing left foot and with him you only have to do the movement and that’s what I try to do. I try to do some combinations, so it comes more naturally.”

On being back at Wolves

“It’s amazing. Since the first day, the love of the fans, they sing for me all the game, that’s the most important for me. They give me motivation to stay here, to play for Wolves, and they always push me to be a better person, a better player. I have to give my best for them too.

“When I went on loan, it was the best for my career because I needed to build my confidence again and now I’m a better player, a better person. So, the team can trust me, the coach can trust me because I always give my best.”

On complementing the striking department

“With the strikers, the coach has a lot to work in training because we are different players. We can combine, if I play with Sasa, Cunha, Hee Chan, Neto, Sarabia, the most important is the dynamics we do in training and after everyone knows it’s easier in the game.”
