Neto | 'We had to adapt better '

Pedro Neto says Wolves must learn from their mistakes against Liverpool and look to maintain their positive first halves after the intervals.

The Old Gold were much the better side in the opening period at Molineux, and deservedly led through Hee Chan Hwang’s early strike, but the tide turned after the break and Liverpool made their dominance count to earn the points.

Neto was the standout performer before the break, setting up Hwang for his goal, and looked back to his best, and while happy to be back playing, wants to turn positive team performances into points soon.

On a promising performance

“I think we did a really good first half. We controlled the game and controlled the counters. We knew they were a really difficult team playing counter attacks, but in the second half they put more guys in front. We had to adapt better and in the last minutes we have to be more aggressive. Against these teams we cannot concede these chances.”

On turning performances into results

“Like the coach said after the game against Manchester United, we cannot perform at this king of level and have this kind of game – the first half we dominated the game – and get out of it with zero points. We’re feeling it a lot, but we have to continue to work, we have to take points. We have to continue to do these first halves and take what we did in the first half into the second half.”

On the timing of Liverpool’s equaliser

“In the second half we didn’t have the chance to go to the goal. They put more guys in front, we had to adapt better, and we didn’t do what we did in the first half, when we controlled all the game with the ball. It’s tough to do this first half and in the second half concede three goals, it’s really difficult.”

On his personal performance

“It’s really good – I feel like I’m getting better, but above all I’m sad because what’s important is the team and we want to get points.”

On Bellegarde’s debut

“He’s a guy with a really good attitude, really good quality. He comes here to improve the team. I think all of the guys who came to the team in the transfer window can add very good things to the team. Now let’s keep working and look to the next one.”
