Dawson | 'Credit to the boys'

Craig Dawson says the Wolves players should take credit from their second half performance on Saturday, which earned a point on the road at Luton Town.

Dawson was at the heart of much of Wolves’ good defensive work, keeping the Hatters are bay, aside from a controversial penalty decision, which ensured the points were shared. While praising Pedro Neto, whose brilliant goal had Wolves in front, Dawson was taking the positives when leaving Kenilworth Road with a point.

On a draw away from home

“It’s a tough place to come. They put you under a lot of pressure. To be down to ten men was disappointing, but the lads stuck in right until the end there, so credit to the boys. It’s a point at the end of the day and we go again.

“They are very good at what they do. The ground is very tight, and it was tough for us. But we did well to keep it 0-0 at half-time and to get a goal in the second half was really important.”

On O’Neil’s half-time message

“He just told us to keep playing and keep working hard. We knew it was going to be tough in the second half with a man less, but Pedro was excellent all game and a real threat for us.”

On a moment of brilliance from Neto

“He’s a top player and it’s a great goal from him and hopefully we can have more goals from him next week.”

On the penalty decision

“It’s a tough call. The referee seemed to make a quick decision and the VAR was even quicker, so it’s disappointing for us. Hopefully in the future we will get a decision going our way.

“The referees obviously know the rules better than me. It’s a tough one. I think he’s reaching for the ball and his arm is up in the air. I think it touches about three body parts before it hits his arm, but I’d like to think in future we’ll get a decision like that.”

On getting back to Molineux

“The home form was massively important last season, so we’ll dust ourselves down from this and go again.”
