Matheus Cunha believes Wolves couldn’t have turned the result around at Bournemouth without the togetherness instilled in the group by Gary O’Neil.
The Brazilian started the turnaround against the Cherries, equalising two minutes after the restart, and from there the Old Gold controlled proceedings and found a way to win the game late on. The importance of the victory was not lost on Cunha, who hopes the manner of the win will help momentum continue to build in the Old Gold camp.
On coming from behind to win
“I’m so happy about the victory. It was a big game today because we know in our situation we need to keep winning. These three points against Bournemouth are very important for us and put us in a good situation. We keep going every single game. I hope we can keep together, and the victories keep coming.”
On upping the intensity second half
“We talked a lot in the [changing] room. I think we did some mistakes in the first half, and we had opportunities. Second half, sure, the red card helped us, and I think we were more prepared to take the chances. Sometimes you need a little bit more to change the game and I think we did it today and I’m so happy.
“We had the capacity to change the game and we believe in the group, every single player, the staff, the coach, this is the most important thing for us. The group is together, to do something like that and change the game.”

On facing ten men
“We started the season with not good situations and games like this are so important for us. We need to win these games to be a little bit freer. Bournemouth are not in a good situation but have a good team, so we had to fight and I’m so happy with the three points. The second goal came very late, and we need to keep like this.”
On Neto’s assist for his goal
“We have a very good relationship. Pedro is a very good player and so important for us. The things he’s done this season have been unbelievable. He’s at a very good level. Not only him, Channy also, everyone in the group is very good for us. I hope Neto keeps this level and helps us and gives me more assist.”
On a sense of togetherness
“This feeling is very important for us. We know our group, we know our situation, the coach came with not much time, and he had only one week before the Premier League. The dressing room is so happy because we work together. We are a group and it’s the most important thing.”
