Toti | 'We kept the togetherness'

Toti says the fighting spirit on show to come back twice and earn a point against Newcastle United is typical of this Wolves team under Gary O’Neil.

Wolves were good value for their point, having overcome two Newcastle goals, while feeling aggrieved from decisions, and Toti was once again impressive on the left side of the back three. The Portuguese showed brilliant feet to set up Hee Chan Hwang for the equaliser, but saved a special word for Pedro Neto, who picked up a hamstring injury after Wolves had got back to 2-2.

On a deserved point

“I think it was [deserved], for what we did during the game. I think the first goal was a little bit difficult to suffer. The second goal was a penalty, and I didn’t see it, but we fought until the end, and I think it’s a fair result.”

On fighting back twice

“Nobody was happy with the penalty because we were sure that it wasn’t, but we kept the togetherness with the team, we fought until the end – this is our team, this is what we do during the week, and it’s what we showed in the game.”

On his assist for Hwang

“It was a good moment of inspiration and when the team is together until the end, things come naturally for us.”

On Neto’s injury

“Very sad. He’s a really, really important player in our team. Everybody knows it. He’s been having a really good season and we hope it’s not too bad for him. We’ll support him and wait for him to come back to help us.

“We spoke to him and, of course, he’s really sad right now, but let’s wait, he’ll do the scan and we’ll see what happens., but we’ll support him.”
