Jose Sa was delighted with Wolves’ ‘unbelievable’ comeback win against Tottenham Hotspur at the weekend and believes it was the perfect way to finish ahead of the international break.
The goalkeeper heads home to Portugal this week as he hopes to be given a chance to earn his first senior international cap in his country’s Euro 2024 qualifiers against Liechtenstein and Iceland.
But before signing off from club football for the next 10 days, Sa was pleased to have played his part in helping Wolves to an important win in the Premier League – which included making an important save to deny Giovani Lo Celso late on in giving Spurs a two goal lead – as well as praising the impact of substitutes Pablo Sarabia and Tommy Doyle.
On fighting back for the win
“It was very good. The three points are very important for us and of course we are happy for that.
“We always have to believe until the end and that is what we did. I have no words.”
On the impact of the substitutes
“It’s true, we have very good players inside and outside of the pitch, and all of the players are important. We saw about that in this game.
“They were very important. They played their part and they deserved that.”
On his late save to deny Lo Celso
“I think the ball was going out, but of course I’m happy to help and I will do it always.
“They [the coaching staff] are proud of our work and they want us to continue.”
