Toti insists the Wolves players are trying to stay positive despite the controversial VAR decisions which have been going against his side in recent weeks as he looks ahead to this weekend’s visit to Arsenal.
The defender has been a constant presence in Gary O’Neil’s line-up during the past few months, with his inclusion coinciding with an upturn in results for the Old Gold, and although his presence was not enough to swing Monday’s defeat to Fulham in Wolves’ favour, Toti is determined to keep improving as he laments the incorrect decisions which have cost the team several points so far this term.
On a loss in Monday Night Football
“We are frustrated with the result. We came here with the right mentality and we deserved to leave here with at least a point.
“We need to try not to concede first. It’s not good, of course, but this is the Premier League, and that can sometimes happen to us, but we’ve got to keep working and try to improve.
“From what happened during the game from both teams, we should have left here with at least a point. But at the end, it happened again with the VAR decisions.”
On losing faith in VAR
“It’s been happening a lot, not just with us, but it has been happening with us a lot. Since the first game of the season, it started with United, and since then it’s just been happening and happening. I don’t know how we can change this.
“Everyone will lose faith in VAR with these kinds of decisions because it’s not helping. We just want to play football and we want to have a fair result at the end, but when it keeps happening like this, it’s very frustrating.
“We’ve been talking about this week after week after week, and it’s getting very normal now. But this is not good. We shouldn’t be talking about VAR this much, but we are because it’s not helping and it’s not good for the Premier League.”
On penalty decisions
“After the game we watched the review from the penalties. In the first penalty, Nelson just touched the ball, so I don’t know how he didn’t overturn it.
“I didn’t really see the second one, so I can’t say much, but we go again next week.”
Moving on from Monday night.

On staying positive
“We always try to be positive, but of course we are frustrated a lot. 100 per cent. But we need to try to be positive after everything that has happened because it’s not just one decision that made us lose the game.
“It’s not just that. But these little details during the game can really change the result at the end.”
On heading to Arsenal on Saturday
“They will be a really tough opponent. We all know Arsenal and they have a really good team, but this is the Premier League, we go there with everything.
“We are not afraid of them. We will do our game and we will prepare well for the game during this week.”
