Toti insists the Wolves players tried their best in spite of their defeat to Arsenal and will be doing everything to get a positive result when they return to Molineux against Burnley on Tuesday.
Having to fight back from two goals down against the Gunners after the hosts got off to a storming start during the opening 15 minutes, Wolves halved the deficit through Matheus Cunha’s effort late on, but Toti praised the character and togetherness of the squad which ensured they were never out of the contest against the Premier League leaders.
On falling to Arsenal
“We knew we were having a tough match today. It’s not easy to come here, play against Arsenal, and leave with a good result, but I think we did our best.
“It’s not easy to suffer those two goals at the beginning, but we had to stick together after those two goals so we could not concede more.”
On trying to turn the game around
“We had some injuries, with Jose Sa, and also some other players missing today, but I think after the second goal from them, we had a good response.
“After the goal from Cunha we gained a little bit more energy and we were believing in ourselves, so we could try to score a second goal. Of course, we couldn’t do it, but we did our best.”
On fighting until the end
“It’s not easy. This is the Premier League and this happens a lot. It’s happened a lot for us this season that we were losing and we were able to change the game.
“But the fans help us a lot and they give us the energy to believe until the end, in spite of the results that we have been having.”
On a close game against the Gunners
“We’ve been working a lot since the coach came. It has really not been an easy start to the season, but we’ve been having good results against the top six, and we need to keep going like this – not just against the top six, but with all of the other teams.”
On going again at Molineux
“We need to keep working because on Tuesday we have another game and we need to think positive and prepare the next game well. We play at home, so we will go with everything.
“Everybody knows it’s not easy to play at Molineux, with our fans, they give us another energy to play our game, so we will prepare the game, starting from tomorrow, and we will go with everything again, until the end."
