Kilman | 'You get punished in the Premier League'

Maximilian Kilman rued sloppy mistakes following the defeat to West Ham United, saying Wolves should have still been in the game right until the end.

The Old Gold were punished for giving the ball away at the London Stadium and once Pablo Sarabia’s goal was ruled out for offside, the game got away from them. Speaking about the importance of handling transitions better, the captain says Wolves must improve quickly ahead of a busy Christmas period.

On errors costing Wolves

“It’s very tough to take. We gave away the ball too many times and it cost us. It’s just bad transitions. We gave away the ball too cheaply and they caught us on the counter attack. Their three goals we could have easily avoided, and we should have been in the game still.

“We weren’t taking care with our passes and were being sloppy. You get punished in the Premier League and that’s what happened today.”

On showing life after the break

“It was just to liven up [O’Neil’s message]. We had the opportunity to get the goal, and we would have been back in the game, but the offside was unfortunate. If that went in, it could have been a bit different, but it was difficult today. It was very difficult to come back after that [the third goal].”

On getting back on track quickly

“We need to look forward, we’ve got a big game at home next Sunday, so we have to be ready for that. We’ve been good this season at home, so we need to make sure we put in another good home performance.”
