Wolves supporters can now have their say on who picks up the Monster Player of the Month award for March.
As usual this season, all the members of Gary O’Neil’s squad who have appeared for the first-team during the month can be voted for. In March, there are 20 players in the running for the award, as the team picked up a win against Fulham in the Premier League but fell out of the FA Cup at the quarter-final stage.
The month started off on a negative note for the Old Gold, with O’Neil’s side falling to a loss on the road at Newcastle United, but quickly made amends with an impressive showing at Molineux against the Cottagers.
With several injuries to their forward line, which only increased when Jean-Ricner Bellegarde and Pedro Neto went down inside the first half against Fulham, Wolves were forced into playing Rayan Ait-Nouri and Mario Lemina in attack, which proved to be a masterstroke, with the wing-back scoring the opening goal just after the break with his first of the season.
Fellow full-back Nelson Semedo also played a crucial role that day, when Joao Gomes found the right wing-back with a cutback outside the box which the Portuguese fired home – via a heavy deflection.
Ait-Nouri scored his second goal in two games as Coventry City were the visitors to Molineux the following weekend, as the Algerian netted an equaliser, before fellow left wing-back Hugo Bueno put Wolves ahead in a game they would suffer late heartbreak.
Following the international break, March came to an end for Wolves at the weekend, as the team came up short at Villa Park, falling to a 2-0 loss away to Aston Villa.
