Matheus Cunha has called on Wolves to target six points from the final two games and finish the season with a “good feeling”.
The Old Gold were comfortably beaten by Manchester City on Saturday evening, with the hosts on track for another league title, but Wolves have their own aspirations of finishing a positive season well. The Brazilian was a little frustrated by penalty decisions at the Etihad, but admits Wolves needed to do much better and is already turning his attention to the final two against Crystal Palace and Liverpool.
On the aims for the final two
“I think six points would be very important. It’s hard, we play Liverpool and an important game against Crystal Palace at home – we have around the same points, so we need to play and get three points and keep focused.
“We’ve done an unbelievable season, but we cannot finish with a bad feeling. We need to win to make it feel like a good season and keep going for the next one.”
On a hard evening at City
“It was a tough game. In the first-half I don’t think we played at our best level. Coming here is always very hard, playing City, they are an unbelievable team and if we make a mistake, we know they will enjoy the opportunity. We need to be better for the other games.”
On the penalty decisions
“There are only three games to finish the season, so it’s hard to talk about this. This season we’ve had controversial decisions, maybe we’ve lost 12 points, I don’t know. He’s human and can make mistakes, but the problem is there’s a lot of mistakes.
“It’s hard to come here to play City, one of the best teams in the world, and to start the game with a penalty is hard – the mood is already going. It’s hard to manage, but we need to keep going.
“We’re not coming here to put it on the referee, because we didn’t play well also, we have to take responsibility because we can play much better than we played.”
