Toti | 'It was one of the trips I’ve always wanted to do'

Toti will be the man in the know during Wolves’ trip to the US later this month, after the defender had a summer to remember out in Miami during his off-season break.

The Portuguese is part of the Wolves squad who have ventured to Marbella for their first training camp of pre-season before the team fly over to America to face several friendly fixtures as preparations for the new Premier League campaign heat up.

But having spent the best part of June across the pond, where he linked up with several celebrities, including NFL star Steffon Diggs, Toti has plenty of recommendations to give his teammates when the second part of pre-season sees Gary O’Neil’s men head to the US.

On his summer break

“It was nice. I went straight to Portugal as soon as we finished the season, and I went to enjoy a little bit with the family, my mum, my sister and my daughter, relax a little bit with them there, and the weather was good too.

“After, I took a little trip out with my cousins and some friends. We went to America, to LA and Miami, to know a little bit more, because it was one of the trips I’ve always wanted to do, and it was really good.”

On off-season experiences

“I’m a big fan of Power, the series, and we had the chance to go and see the first episode with all the actors, so that was nice and a good experience.”

On hanging out with celebrities out in the US

“It was just a couple of link-ups, not just in America, but in Portugal too, it was good to meet some different people, not just in football.

“I’ve met some football players too, but also some rappers, some NFL players, NBA players, so it was good to be in a different environment and not just the football world.”

On returning to training

“I feel refreshed now, but even when it was holidays I was still training. My personal trainer was with us for the whole trip, so I was basically training in the morning and then the rest of the day we were enjoying, meeting different places, so it was a holiday but sometimes it was training. But it was good.”

On going back to Miami for Wolves’ pre-season- tour

“I know a couple of restaurants and a couple of good places we can go to chill and enjoy a little bit there, and I know a few people there who if we need something they can help us.”
