Semedo | ‘It felt good to be back’

Nelson Semedo insists Wolves still have much to improve on despite earning their first point of the Premier League campaign away at Nottingham Forest.

The defender was pleased his return to the team from a three-game suspension coincided with Wolves ending their winless start to the campaign, and feels he is still a little way from being back at the form which he displayed last season. However, he is adamant that improvements will continue to be made by the team and the right-back himself.

On leaving Forest with a point

“It was a tough game. I think the draw was a fair result for both teams. I think both teams did really well, and we did really well, especially in the first half, we had more of the ball, we created chances, and we had a lot of chances.

“In the beginning of the game, we had a chance to score a goal with Rayan, but unfortunately, we didn't score. Then what a strike [from Bellegarde]. It was really good.

“But if they told me that we’d have drawn, then I’d have taken it, but I think we did well.”

On returning from suspension

“It feels good to be back. I've been working a lot to try to match the same good physicality that the team are at right now. I will keep working because I still have a lot to improve physically.

“But it felt good to be back and to help the team get a point here because it’s always difficult to get points here in this stadium and against this team, so I'm glad.”

On bouncing back from last weekend

“We had a game against Burnley on Wednesday for the Carabao, but we needed to give a response in the Premier League, and I think we did it in a good way.

“In this stadium, it’s always really difficult to get points against a good team. But I think we did well. We still have a lot to improve, things to get better, but we’re going to get there.”

On penalty decisions

“I think it was a penalty for us, but I don’t know about theirs. To be honest, I didn't see the play, so I can’t say anything right now, but I’ll check on the video.

“But I thought the referee did well, generally in the game, so it was good that we gave a response, but we need to keep a positive mind and just try to be better.”

On Sam Johnstone’s debut

“I think he did well. He’s been with us for a couple days but looks like he played with us for a while already.

“He made a very good save on Morgan’s free-kick so he’s one more player who can help.”
