It’s been a difficult September for the side, who have failed to win any of their three Premier League outings, as well as falling out of the Carabao Cup at the third round stage to Brighton & Hove Albion after a visit to the Amex midway through the month.

However, Wolves have still found the back of the net five times in their four September matches, having scored against every opponent they have faced.

After the international break meant a late start to the month, a 2-1 loss to Newcastle United at Molineux – in which Mario Lemina had given Wolves a first-half lead – was followed up by defeat in the cup, as Goncalo Guedes and Tommy Doyle’s goals were not enough to secure a last 16 spot.

A visit to Villa Park once again saw Wolves take the lead before the break through Matheus Cunha before Aston Villa claimed three points late on, while September was rounded out with a testing clash against Liverpool, as Rayan Ait-Nouri got his side back on level terms after Wolves had fallen behind, only for the Reds to regain the lead and secure the win in the Black Country.
