Strand Larsen | 'We're going to be hungrier than ever'

Jorgen Strand Larsen is focused only on the future, and the next 30 Premier League games, knowing Wolves can compete with the best in the division.

The Old Gold took champions Manchester City until the 95th minute at Molineux on Sunday, before suffering late heartbreak to lose 2-1. That came after Strand Larsen had opened the scoring with his third goal for the club, and with Wolves showing the ideal response to their abject performance at Brentford a fortnight ago, the attacker is now even more determined to get over the line with a result.

On a cruel ending on Sunday

“It hurts a lot. We worked really good for 95 minutes and in some ways we deserved more. We know that City are going to have more of the ball, create chances and get momentum, but I think we defended well with the five. Then, at the end, when it's 1-1 with one second left to play, you take a point home. But that's football.

“That's where we are at the moment, but we just have to take the good bits from it. I think the gaffer points it out well after the game that we have to take the positives. When we can perform like that against City for 95 minutes, we should be proud, and we have to take the positives, but the points matter and hopefully they will come soon.”

On a performance of heart and effort

“I was so tired when I came off, I couldn't continue running. So, we gave it all, all of us. I want to be a part of the team, from the goalkeeper until every player that comes from the bench as well. I think that we could have deserved a little bit more.

“I feel like we bounced back from a really tough away game last time, we conceded five, we didn't play that well. Today, we're playing against the best team in the world, probably at the moment, so it's difficult to play against them, but we have to take the positives, and now hopefully we can put those eight games behind us and look forward. There are 30 games more to play, and we're going to be hungrier than ever.”

On the game plan working

“I've been away with my international team, of course, but I think the plan was set really early. We had to change how we defended after a tough one against Brentford away, and I think we did well. We did everything according to the plan and were just unlucky, and that's really hard to take on. Our game plan was top notch from the coaching staff, but in the end, it's just quality that kills us.

“We also had a chance with Nelson straight after [his goal], and a chance in the second half as well. So, we were a bit unlucky to not score one more. If we go 2-0 up, it's easier to defend against them, because then they're more stressed.”

On another goal to the tally

“It was my second goal here at home. It's always nice to score. Of course, you score and you have dreams of taking three points, but we got really close today. The points are what matters for me, but always nice to grab a goal as well.”

On Sa’s performance

“We need goalkeepers that make those kinds of saves. All of our goalkeepers are really good and it is tough competition, of course. I think Sa did really well today, coming back to the goal, and he deserves it. I think he did a really good game, and I'm proud of him.”
