Semedo | 'It feels good, but there’s a lot of work to do'

Nelson Semedo admitted he would exchange winning Wolves’ October SUDU Player of the Month award for a first three points of the season when Southampton visit Molineux on Saturday.

The defender has been in impressive form in recent weeks despite results continuing to go against the Old Gold, but Semedo insists the players are giving their all in an attempt to turn their season around.

On winning October’s Player of the Month award

“It feels good, but there’s a lot of work to do. I know we’re not in a good situation at the moment, but it's really good to get this award.

“But I’d definitely change it for three points on Saturday. Let's go for it.”

On appreciation of the fans

“I just want to say thank you to the fans, but more than that, I just want to urge them to keep pushing us, because we're working hard.

“I know we’re not doing that well at the moment with our results, but their support makes it so much easier and I want to invite them to come to the stadium and be the noisiest they can be, because we're going to be working hard on Saturday to get the three points.”

On his assist against Man City

“It was good. It was the first goal to make it 1-0 and I remember receiving the ball from Santi, who gave me a great ball, and I was free on the right.

“In my head, I saw Cunha, so I thought about going for him, but then I also saw Jorgen coming into the box at the other side of the pitch, so I just put it between the defence and the keeper and it was a good one.”

On preparations for Southampton

“It's going well, we’re preparing well. We did a good session today and I think everybody's confident, and everybody's working really hard to try to change the situation.

“We still have a couple of training sessions to prepare for our game on Saturday, so we're going to work hard and try to be at our best on Saturday.”
