Mario Lemina says he’d “play goalkeeper” for Wolves if he had to, after starring in defence during Wolves’ impressive victory at Fulham.
The skipper slotted back into the back four in the absence of Craig Dawson and Santiago Bueno and it was his incisive ball over the top for Matheus Cunha which flipped the momentum Wolves’ way in the capital. The win was the Old Gold’s second in succession and lifted them out of the relegation zone, and Lemina says supporters could see in the performance that confidence has returned to the group.
On turning the corner as a group
“The confidence is back. We can tell that in the training, we're working really, really well, and everyone is positive. We believe that we can do something better than what we did in the previous games. I think we showed that we are good team and we can do better.”
On the turnaround in the last four
“You know the mentality. We never give up. Some people said that we were really bad and stuff, but we believe in what we're doing in training every day, and some people like Rayan stepped up his level, Cunha, Jorgen - I can name a lot of players that were doing great during this time, then we keep working really hard, and I think that we deserve this as well.”
The pass. The control. The finish.

On stepping into defence
“You know, it's my club, and I will my everything for this club, for the team, and if I have to play centre back, I have to play goalkeeper, I will do it. I enjoyed to be with the boys. I enjoyed playing for the gaffer. I will give my everything.”
On the key moments on Saturday
“For three games now, we’ve tried to play our game. We try to be free in our head. We tried to be composed. We tried to play with our quality and we believed that we're going to change the game. In one action, one key moment, key players like Cunha can score and we believed in that. It was a good game for us.”
On Cunha starring again
“He’s been amazing since the beginning of the season, and with a couple of injuries, we had to make sure that we were all together, and that's what we were. We conceded, but we were not frustrated. We knew we could concede because they are a good team, but we believed in our process, and we did what we have to do.”
