Nelson Semedo says it’s “unacceptable” to concede three penalties in one match and that Wolves must bounce back straight away.
The Old Gold caused their own problems in defeat to Bournemouth on Saturday, with three of the visitors’ four goals coming from the penalty spot. Nelson Semedo was booked following the first of the three, meaning he’ll miss Wednesday’s trip to Everton, where he knows Wolves need to be much better than they were at Molineux on Saturday.
On Saturday’s defeat
“Tough day for us. We weren't good enough. We tried to prepare for the game in the best way, but they did really well. We lost a lot of duels as well. It’s our fault, obviously. They press really, really well, and we knew that. Maybe we had to try to put the ball behind and try to press them there, on their side of the pitch.”
On Bournemouth causing problems
“We knew they were really good at pressing, and they won two penalties like that, waiting for us and making a good press. They also won a lot of balls in our defensive side. We were prepared for that, but the game didn't go the way we wanted. Now we have a game on Wednesday, so we just have to focus on that one now.”
On how they tried to change things
“We had to change a couple things, but I think the most important thing to change was just us, because we were losing 3-1 at home. It was believing that we could change the game. One goal can change everything. Afterwards we made another mistake and another goal for them. There were some mistakes that we cannot do. Three penalties in a game is unacceptable for us, and we will work hard to be better.”
On his fifth yellow of the season
“It was not in my mind, to be honest. The way I got the yellow card, I was really mad with the referee, because I thought it was a goal kick, so I was just clapping for his decision, and suddenly he took the yellow card, and he gave me the yellow card, and didn't even let me try to explain to him. I knew I already had a yellow card and that wouldn't change, but I wanted to say to him that that’s not me. I'm not clapping because he said it's penalty, I just thought it was a goal kick. I'm not that kind of kind of player, and I know I’m on four yellow cards, so I'm not going to do that.”
