Bueno | 'The team is well prepared'

Santi Bueno admits Wolves will need to improve in both penalty areas if they are to claim a first Premier League win in four attempts when they face Chelsea on Monday evening.

After a midweek defeat to Newcastle United in which Wolves struggled to convert their chances in front of goal as well as defensively to stop the Magpies’ attack, Bueno believes the players have enough quality to produce a better display at Stamford Bridge.

On bouncing back from a midweek loss

“It was a very demanding game, a lot of transitions and counter-attacks. It was a good game, but we failed in both penalty areas, both ours and theirs.

“There were clear chances, but we didn't score goals, and it was the same defensively. That's where I think the game ended. That’s where we'll have to improve.”

On facing Chelsea on Monday night

“We all know all Premier League games are very difficult. We know what the difficulties are when facing a team like Chelsea.

“We know their strengths, we know how they can attack, but we'll have to also focus on their weak points and prepare the game well to get the three points. This is the aim. We have to prepare in the best possible way to achieve the three points.”

On a difficult run of fixtures ahead

“Like I said, there are no easy opponents in the Premier League – all of the teams are strong with their weapons, and obviously playing against six of the top teams will be an even bigger challenge for us.

“But I think the team is well prepared for this. We played a good game against United at home, again, we were strong in both penalty areas, so we'll have to keep up the effort to play a good game.”

On feeling settled in the Premier League

“I'm very happy with the way I have adapted to Premier League football. I think, at present, it's the best league in the world and it was very important for me to adapt to this football.

“It is true that I have already played more games in the first six months of this season than I did for the whole season last year, however, I do value those games because they helped me to adapt to a different league, because I came from the Spanish league, which is one of the best in the world as well, and obviously changing country, language, and team is difficult, and you have to adapt quickly.

“Also, the team’s level, and the level of my teammates is very high, so that helped me to improve and progress a lot. I'm really happy with my progression and I hope it carries on like this.”

On helping Agbadou adapt to the league

“We welcomed him the best possible way, as well as I was welcomed in this team, this family. Obviously, it's a big challenge for him, because he had to play in the FA Cup and the Premier League, so I understand he has to adopt adapt very quickly, and he did it very well.

“When he adapts completely to the new type of football, I think he's going to feel a lot more comfortable and his performances will improve as well.”
