Jorgen Strand Larsen admits Wolves need to improve at both ends of the pitch after feeling the side conceded too many ‘easy goals’ in their defeat at Chelsea, while also not making their attacking chances count.
The striker – who has seven goals in his debut campaign in English football – has failed to find the net in the Old Gold’s last four outings despite chances falling his way, but Strand Larsen is remaining optimistic and believes turning those opportunities into goals will just be a matter of time.
On defeat to Chelsea
“We did well in the first half. Maybe we fell a little bit short in the second half, but I think there is still a lot of good things to take with us.
“It's a tough place to come, it's my first time, but I can imagine it's been tough for years, and it's a very difficult team to play against.”
On not taking advantage in the second half
“We stayed in the game. We didn’t concede after we conceded to make it one-nil, and then we scored a late goal, and I think that gave us a boost.
“But at the end, it was tough to come here. We can do some things better, but we needed to stay a little bit longer in the game to take something from it today.”
On needing to take chances
“It’s tough. You need to stay in the game for as long as you can and we've been doing some good bits the last few games, we're creating a lot of chances, and it’s just about getting them into the goal now.
“In the last three games, we've created enough to score. I've had a few games with a little bit hitting the post, and someone unlucky moments. But as a striker, you always want to score.
“We're doing well to create the chances, and now it's all about getting back to scoring them – as we had a few chances today also.”
On getting tighter in defence
“We also need to try to not concede easy goals. We’re conceding [too many], but especially easy goals.
“I feel like those goals today are quite easy and we need to stay away from them, because the most important thing against these big teams is to stay in the game as long as possible, but it's been tough the last few games.”
