Wolves top scorer Matheus Cunha has committed his long-term future to the club, signing a new four-and-a-half year deal at Molineux.
The Brazilian is Wolves’ second most prolific marksman in the Premier League era with 24 goals, ten of which came during a positive first half of this campaign where he has also taken captaincy responsibilities at times.
A Christmas Day arrival in 2023, Cunha helped Wolves to Premier League survival in his opening months at Molineux, before evolving into a key player last term, finishing as the club’s top scorer.
A hat-trick at Chelsea – one of only two for Wolves in the Premier League – provided a high point, as did the now iconic second goal during a memorable win at local rivals West Bromwich Albion in the FA Cup.
This term the 25-year-old has kicked on, finding a new home on the left behind Jorgen Strand Larsen, and becoming the first player to earn a treble nomination for the same Premier League Goal of the Month award in November.
His Boxing Day ‘Olimpico’ goal against Manchester United – another divisional Goal of the Month nomination – took the attacker into double figures for the season, while he’s provided a further four assists for the Old Gold.

“Matheus has a good relationship with every at Compton Park, his personality is infectious to those around him, and we hope this new contract will provide a boost to the group.
“We can all see his quality on the pitch, but off it he’s developed into a leader of the group, and we’re delighted that he’s signed a new contract. It’s always important to us that we reward our strongest and most impactful players, and Matheus deserves this new deal.”

“His talent is undeniable and he’s a real winner. He wants us to achieve our goals now, and when a player of his quality shows he's with you and up for the fight, it’s a big lift for everyone. Now he has to do what he’s been doing, and even more. I expect him to knuckle down through the second half of season, because we need everyone at it.”
