Nelson Semedo insists Wolves can’t allow their season to slow down, after a disappointing home defeat to Fulham on Tuesday evening.
The Old Gold conceded in the opening moments of both halves, meaning the Cottagers left with the points, despite Joao Gomes’ equaliser having Vitor Pereira’s side level at the break.
The captain knows Wolves still have a lot of work to do to pull away from trouble, and insists concentration levels must improve, otherwise the Old Gold will continue to be punished, given the ruthless nature of the Premier League.
On defeat to Fulham
“It’s disappointing. We wanted to get the points that were very important to us. We didn't start well the first half. I wasn't good enough with the decision I made, and that cost us a goal. We have to take the responsibility, and here I am for that.
“After, we scored a goal. I think we did really well in the first half, created a lot of chances, but then second half was the same thing. We didn't start well the second half, and the Premier League punishes when it's like this.
“I think it's more about us today. We weren't good enough today, and we cannot be like this if we want to go higher in the table, we have to be better. We take some lessons and work hard and come back again.”
On a problem with concentration
“Well, we have to work hard on that and try to come better. Usually, it's not a thing that happens to us, but today cannot happen again. We weren't focused, we weren’t concentrated, and the beginnings of halves are very important.
“We have to make sure that we start well, especially when we play at home, in front of our fans and with a very important game to play. It cost us the game and we have to move on from this. We learn from this and move on.”
On work still to be done
“We cannot slow down now. We have to carry on. We made a very good game against Bournemouth, but it was important to win this game as well. We knew that we were five points clear, but that's not enough. We have to keep going. We cannot slow down now.
“We have to carry on. We have to keep getting some points, especially when we play at home. We have a couple games now to come that are very important. Today was one of them. We couldn't win this game and now rest and think about the next game already.”
