Hwang | 'I’m so happy to be back to my usual self'

Hee Chan Hwang believes he is now in ‘perfect condition’ after returning to the Molineux pitch having spent the last month on the sidelines recovering from a hamstring injury.

The South Korean has been unfortunate with injuries this season, taking a knock to his ankle earlier in the campaign which saw him laid off for two months, before his recent troubles.

But having taken time to fully recover, Hwang was back in a gold shirt to help his team in their draw with Everton on Saturday and now feels he is in great shape to give his everything towards Wolves’ Premier League survival push in the final stretch of the campaign.

On recovering from injury

“This season has been filled with frustrating moments, but now that I’m free from pain, I’m so happy to be back to my usual self. As always, I believe I can perform well when I’m injury-free.

“So many people helped me. I received great treatment which really helped my recovery. Thanks to the great treatment, I was able to come back in perfect condition.

“Now, I have no pain at all. The issue has completely gone away, it even feels a bit unfamiliar to run so lightly. It was a refreshing period of preparation for this game.”

On returning against Everton

“I was preparing to come on in the last game [against Bournemouth in the FA Cup], but because of injuries to other players, I didn't get to play.

“I felt a bit disappointed, thinking that if I had been able to return a little earlier, it would have been good for both me and the fans who had been waiting for me.

“But since my body has fully recovered, I was able to enjoy playing. It had been a while since I sprinted like that. I ran a lot to help the team, but I couldn’t create many chances. I think I was a little short on time, however, I felt positive about creating more opportunities going forward.”

On helping Wolves in the closing stages

“As we approach the final stretch of the season, we’re entering a really critical period. The upcoming matches are against teams fighting relegation, which makes them even more important.

“I’m really happy that my body has fully recovered at this crucial moment. Since I feel great physically, I’m determined to give my best effort and contribute to the team.

“Right now, there are so many good players around me, and we’re communicating well. The team atmosphere is excellent.”

On an important run of fixtures

“Our goal is to win every game, so it’s important to collect as many points as possible in these crucial upcoming matches.

“Next week’s away game against Southampton will be the most important one for now. After that, we have the Ipswich match, so we need to give our all in every single game to secure as many points as possible.”
