Andre is back in the Brazil squad this week for his country’s crucial World Cup qualification matches this week, and the chance to add to his 10 caps makes the Wolves midfielder immensely proud.
A run of impressive showings in the centre of the park for the Old Gold during the last few months has seen Andre become one of two Wolves men called up by Brazil for their qualification matches against Colombia and Argentina.
Selected by head coach Dorival Junior – who has also recalled club teammate Matheus Cunha to the squad after a year’s absence – Andre will not have fellow midfielder Joao Gomes alongside him this time, but he hopes this international window will be ‘special’ as Brazil look to book their place at the 2026 competition.
On being called up by Brazil once again
“I'm very happy to be back with the national team. We’re now with full strength – with Vinicius Jr, Rodrygo, Raphinha, Marquinho – with all the players who play in high-level European football.
“It's an honour to be playing with them too, so I hope this international period will be special for us and that we can achieve two victories.
“It's a reason for great pride, a reason for great happiness, to be able to represent my country.”

On Cunha’s return to the squad
“I was very happy for him. I was rooting for him a lot. He deserves this call-up for everything he's been doing here for Wolverhampton.
“I hope he can help Brazil a lot and do the same thing he has been doing for the club and help us in these two very difficult games.”
On Gomes missing out
“Cunha and I also wanted Joao to be called up. He works hard, he is an extremely important player here and he has every chance of being in the national team.
“I hope this is a reason for him to keep working hard and be called up in the next ones.”

On Brazil’s struggles so far in qualifying
“These qualifiers have been very difficult, but I'm sure that now that our house is in order, everything will be fine and we have everything we need to have a good international window.
“I'm ready to help my teammates and for Brazil to get back to the top.”
On facing Colombia and Argentina this week
“I think these two games will be the biggest test for our national team, but we have everything we need to play two excellent games.
“First, we have to think about Colombia, which is a very tough opponent, but we will play at home.
“As I said, we will be at full strength there, with all the players who are flying right now, they are having an excellent time at their clubs. I am sure they will all fit in and we will play two great games.”
