Emmanuel Agbadou insists Wolves will be focusing on getting the best out of themselves when they head east to face an important Premier League clash with Ipswich Town this weekend.
The defender has been key to Wolves’ renaissance under Vitor Pereira with the Old Gold conceding just a dozen times since his arrival in January, after letting in more than 40 during the first half of the campaign.
And with a crucial visit to Portman Road coming up on Saturday, Agbadou feels there will be a derby atmosphere around the game with both sides battling it out for Premier League surivial.
On three midweek points at Molineux
“This game was very important for us because you need points to stay in the league and you are playing at home, in front of our supporters, so it was important for us to win this game.
“With their support, it is amazing to play every time at home.”
On facing Ipswich this weekend
“On Wednesday I was following the results of Ipswich and I was getting angry, but it is football and we need to win the next game against them on Saturday.
“But now we are so focused with our side, with our performance, so I think this is more important, because in this moment and in this part of the season, you need to be focused on what you can do, on what you can improve.
“Whoever you play against – if you play against Ipswich, against Tottenham, against Manchester United, Arsenal – we need to be focused on our side. That is even more important.”
On preparing for a crucial match
“We will prepare like every game. Every game here in England is so important. Even against Ipswich, it will feel like a derby because of the position that we both have now, we are so close to them.
“But we are focused on our side and what we can do, and I think is more important. Everyone in the group is so calm and excited to play this game and show that we deserve to stay in this league if we win.”

On improving Wolves’ defensive record
“I haven’t looked at the statistics since my arrival here, but I’m happy. I’m happy to do my part in this team. I’m happy for that day that they sign me, and I’m here to help the team and the team have helped me also.
“I’m a defender, I like to take my responsibility, I like to manage my defence, I like to help my team. I like to give a lot of confidence to my teammates, I like to help my teammates to play very free and feel very safe because they can say that I have a monster behind me and I can do what I want.
“This is my main reason for why I am here, and I’m happy if since my signing here that the team haven’t conceded too many goals.”
On starting to think about safety
“I don't think any of us are thinking yet about next season, because this season is not finished yet. I need to be focused on this season because the target is to stay in the league – that is the most important thing.
“When we get more points and you can see that you are good for staying the league, then we can start to think about next season, but now, this is the moment.”
