Sarabia | 'We suffered, but stayed together'

Pablo Sarabia says the Wolves supporters deserved to celebrate in the Suffolk sun on Saturday evening, after what has been a difficult campaign at times.

The Spaniard came off the bench to help flip the Old Gold’s trip to Ipswich Town on its head, turning a half-time deficit into a 2-1 win with a low finish and assist for Jorgen Strand Larsen’s late winner.

Sarabia says the scenes of celebration at full time between players and supporters at Portman Road were nice to see, and were deserved after Wolves turned their season around under Vitor Pereira.

On celebrating a big win

“We are a pack. It’s been a very tough season for us, because at the beginning it was very, very hard. We suffered in a lot of moments, but we stayed together, which is the most important, in this group and I think in life as well. The support was amazing for us every single time, every single game, and because of this it’s very important today.

“It's very important, not just for the team, but for the supporters. I think they deserved this win for everything this season. We changed the new manager, we improved, and we got our aim which is so important for the club.”

On his instructions when coming on

“I try this every single time that I go in, I try to help, every training session and every game, of course, and I think it is very important for the team that everyone tries to help. It doesn't matter if it's for a few minutes, or from the start.

“We had to be to be together, more compact, more aggressive, trying to have the ball, because it's very important to create chances. With the result like this, it was very important to create more chances, switch the ball very fast, and we did it.”

On contributing when it mattered

“It was fast, but I tried to decide quick and today I'm very happy for that. It is not a good feeling, because you celebrate the goal, and after you have to wait a few minutes to [VAR] check the goal. It is weird, but for us today I’m very happy to get this goal and this assist for Jorgen and the most important is the victory, because our aim is very close.

“It was a tough result for us [being 1-0 down], but we worked a lot. We tried everything on the pitch, all together in every single moment, and it’s so important for us, the results.”

On winning three on the spin

“We have to keep going, not just for this season, but to prepare for the next season as well. We try to improve every training session, every game. It is true that now we have three victories on the road, and it's so important for belief to keep going in the same way, because I think this is the right way to get our aims.”
