Rayan Ait-Nouri insists Wolves will continue to push for as many points as possible until the end of the season, but acknowledges the pressure is now off with Premier League safety all but guaranteed.
The wing-back has praised the efforts of his teammates during the last few months for helping to turn around the season which started in difficult circumstances for the Old Gold, and left them five points in the relegation zone upon Vitor Pereira’s arrival in December.
But with an important win away at Ipswich Town last weekend, which moved the team 12 points clear of the bottom three, Ait-Nouri understands that although the players will be approaching Sunday’s Molineux fixture with Tottenham Hotspur without as much pressure, the players are determined to give home supporters a good end to the season and continue their positive form.
On three crucial points last weekend
“It was a very important match last weekend in Ipswich. We handled it well. They were right behind us in the table, but the most important thing is that we went there to get a good result.
“We managed to change the course of the match. We were behind in the first half, but then second half, we came back with very good intentions, and we were able to score two very good goals. But for us, the most important thing was the three points.”

On feeling safe in the Premier League
“It’s not guaranteed yet, so the most important thing is that we continue to go match by match – as we always do. The goal is to get good results in the remaining matches but also to enjoy ourselves, play without feeling any pressure on us and really enjoy playing the remaining matches.
“But since the start of the season, that’s how we’ve tried to play, going match by match, without putting too much pressure on ourselves, because we are a team with very good players, and we definitely deserve to stay in the Premier League and we’ll try to aim higher if we can.
“But the most important thing is the match this Sunday at home against Tottenham, where we want to get a good result for our supporters as well.”
On aiming for three points at home on Sunday
“It’s going to be a good day. After all, we know this season has been a bit complicated for us. Let’s not lie – it’s been tough at the start.
“But we’ve always stayed focused on the Premier League because we know we have really good players and we’re all looking in the same direction.
“The most important thing is that we play very well, we train very well, we try to train the best we can during the week to be ready for the weekend and get good results, and this weekend will be a very important match again, with the fans behind us.”
On Strand Larsen’s goalscoring form
“You can clearly see his confidence. He’s scored some important goals in the last few matches, and I think it’s only a positive for the team and has benefited everyone.
“A striker who scores is always a good thing, and he really deserves it – he fights so hard for the team, he’s always involved, and he puts in the effort.
“But the rest of the team also, we’re here to serve him in the best way possible and he’s in a strong moment right now, so we hope it continues like this for him.”
On the French speaking contingent at Compton
“Honestly, it’s always nice to be able to speak with other French speakers. But we try to speak with everyone and we’re also trying to improve our English because that’s important too.
“But we try to help each other out, whether things are going well or not, even off the field, whether it’s JJ [Bellegarde] or others, it makes things better. If somebody needs help, there is always a person giving some advice and we have good fun.
“We try to train together and we laugh a lot, trying to make jokes and jokes are obviously easier for us to make in French, but all together, there's a great atmosphere.”
