Cunha | 'We’ve got the points and showed our work'

Matheus Cunha believes the Wolves players are showing the supporters their full capacity now, having chalked up a sixth Premier League win in a row on Saturday.

The Brazilian opened the scoring himself against already relegated Leicester City, before providing assists for Jorgen Strand Larsen and Rodrigo Gomes after the interval, as the Old Gold continued their position momentum at Molineux.

Speaking in the tunnel after the game, Cunha heaped praise on head coach Vitor Pereira and explained how his special mascot for the day provided that adding inspiration on a day he hit his 17th goal of the season in old gold.

On a special day at Molineux

“I think every single week we try to show on the pitch what we do every day. Sometimes the result is not with us, but I think we are very committed to this club. Everyone loves to play here, to show the fans our capacity, and in the end, we’ve got the points and showed our work.”

On the work of Pereira

“Right now, it’s easy to talk about him. I think he came here to help us and this is the most important point. We felt this kind of help, and then, of course, when we show these kinds of things on the pitch, we have a lot of his help from the team. Everyone is very happy to have the staff. All the staff, him, all the other coach are here to help us, and then we’ve started to show this on the pitch.”

On the love from the fans

“I always say, when I use this shirt, I'm so happy on the pitch, playing  for this team, for my team mates. Everyone knows that sometimes my emotions are too much, because I really love to be here. Of course, the most important is to help the team. The most important is keep pushing, improve as a player, as a man, and these are the things that I always keep with me.”

On walking out with Junior

“This guy gave me a lot of help. He gave me a lot of other details in life. And then, of course, I'm so happy to be on the pitch and show him a little bit of myself to let him enjoy it with us.”
