Strand Larsen | 'We can continue our streak'

Jorgen Strand Larsen believes if Wolves continue to play the way they did on Saturday, they can beat anyone in the Premier League.

The Old Gold chalked up a sixth win in succession against Leicester City, with the Norwegian scoring his sixth goal in that sequence of successes after the interval in the 3-0 win.

Wolves have the tough task of Manchester City away on Friday evening, but after another positive afternoon in old gold for the striker, who linked up impressively with Matheus Cunha throughout, he’s in a buoyant mood.

On being part of a winning team

“Incredible feeling, six in a row. That's something we never expected earlier in the season, but that shows the hard work, courage, mentality, everything that you need to get back into the into games, and the season, with the tough start we had. I'm just really proud, and it's a really nice moment to be in right now.”

On keep the momentum going

“I think after we beat Ipswich, we kind of knew that this will be us in the Premier League next season. But since then we haven't stopped really. We won three games in a row after that and had two really tough games before this one, Tottenham and Man United are big clubs, it's not easy.

“We don't expect to go and win every game, today we know they're great players, there wasn’t many points between us earlier this season, but we know that if we continue to play as well as we've done the last games, we can beat everyone at this moment, and we have a really tough one next weekend, but I don't see why we can't continue our streak.”

On what’s changed

“Of course, the new staff came in with great energy, but the players are the same. It’s just maybe at some point you need a change. We played also a few good games with Gary, and they are great people, this is not about that change, but of course when you get a new manager everyone wants to show themselves, and I think with time we’ve just built on that, and everything’s work out in training.

“We put a lot of work into training, and at the beginning it went a little bit up and down, but you can see now it's coming to where it should be and I'm just really happy for the guys, because we’ve struggled a lot this season.”

On responding to his miss

“That happens in football. I'm a striker, I know that can happen. It's just a millimetre and it will go in, but it obviously caught me off guard a little bit. Rayan is such an amazing player, he sometimes wants to have an assist instead of scoring, so I need to give my apologies to him, but he knows that, and we have a great connection too.

“For me, I just needed a moment to get back into the game and then a few moments later I was able to score with a great attack and a great pass from Cunha, and that showed the emotion I was talking about.”

On his understanding with Cunha

“It's very easy, especially on the ball, he has that freedom to go where he wants to go, and we just fill in where he's leaving the space and he's finding the space himself. So, he's just an amazing player, especially for a striker that wants to score.

“I should have scored one in the first half, and obviously one in the second half again. I don’t think I've been that embarrassed and happy in such a short space of time. So, I'm glad I had Matheus to set me up with a goal.”
