Gomes | 'I hope to score many goals at this fantastic stadium'

Rodrigo Gomes hopes to be scoring at Molineux on a regular basis in the future, having hit his first home goal for Wolves over the weekend.

The Portuguese sprinted 65 metres, from his left wing back slot to just inside the Leicester box before tucking home the third goal to seal yet another victory for the Old Gold against Leicester City.

The 21-year-old has now scored home and away against the Foxes, and at Bristol City in the Emirates FA Cup, and contributing to a winning team, who celebrated a sixth success in a row, made the youngster proud post-match.

On his emotions after Saturday

“I'm very, very happy to score a goal, my first goal here at Molineux and six wins in a row, so I'm very, very happy to be part of this team, and now it's time to enjoy and celebrate it. My first goal in Premier League was against Leicester, and now I’ve scored again. It's very good to score goals, so I'm very happy. It’s living a dream scoring at Molineux. I hope to score many goals to help the team and score in this fantastic stadium.”

On the positivity at the club

“I think it’s the group. The group is very strong. We are very, very strong and the friendships are amazing. We are very connected and I think you noticed on the pitch, we play very well with each other – the starting 11 played very good, the players who came from the bench played very good too. Six wins in a row is not easy, and it's very good for us, and I’m very happy to be a part of it.”

On the connection between players

“We have a very good group. It's a very good thing to have, but it's difficult to have this in a team, this friendship and this connection with each other, but we have it. Now we are going to try for seven wins in a row. It's going to be very difficult, but we are going to try.”

On keeping the intensity high

“We go to the training every day to enjoy it. I think we enjoy the football. We love to be here. It's a dream for me to be here in the Premier League and every day is a day to practice, to enjoy it and to improve ourselves. We are very happy to be here, we enjoy every day and try to improve ourselves.

“When I came on, I tried to help the team. We were winning 2-0 and Sa did a very good save from the penalty and we are very confident. It was very important because at 2-1, Leicester can make it 2-2, and we wanted to win. Another clean sheet is important for us. The team is playing very good and six wins in a row is a very good achievement for us. Now, we want more.”

On playing under Pereira

“It’s amazing. He came in a very difficult moment for us, and he helped us a lot. Now we have six wins in a row, and it’s a very good job from Vitor and from the staff. It’s very, very good to be a part of this. I'm very happy, and I want to enjoy this moment. He’s very good tactically and very good with the connection. He helps a lot with the human part.”
