Wolves Women midfielder Merrick Will has been appointed as the latest One Pack, One Planet ambassador to help drive the project’s sustainability efforts across the club.
Together with her full-time role at Wolves as an academy operations officer, Will joins men’s first-team goalkeeper Dan Bentley, facilities, safety & security director Steve Sutton and presenter/producer Gemma Frith in a bid to share the Old Gold’s sustainability progress with a wider audience.
The midfielder has also joined up with Football For Future and Common Goal for season two of their Climate Champions programme. As part of this community of like-minded elite global footballers, the programme will support Will in championing sustainability within her own footballing community and beyond.
Will said: “I’m really pleased to be involved and to start my journey in environmental sustainability and just try to get more involved where I can. It’s really exciting.
“Sustainability is important to everybody, especially for this generation, as we want to protect the planet and make sure that it's better for the next generation. We've got a real big responsibility to do that, and I'm hoping, as a player, I can influence and help educate other people on the same topics.”
Wolves have marked the second anniversary of its One Pack, One Planet programme by publishing their annual environmental sustainability report – which can be read and downloaded here.
Launched in February 2023, One Pack, One Planet sets out the club’s ambition to lead the way in environmental sustainability, maximising it’s positive pawprint in the city of Wolverhampton and globally.
And by joining as an ambassador, Will is hoping to use her status as a player and staff member at Wolves to raise the profile of the projects which the club carry out across the year.
“The role of ambassador will be a mixture of things. It’s about getting my face out there to influence people and educate them more on what they can do to play their part in reducing their carbon footprint, for example.
“And hopefully I’ll be getting involved in some projects that the club start across the year too.”
This weekend will see the club showcase the impact One Pack, One Planet has had in delivering an even more sustainable Wolves at its men’s and women’s first-team fixtures.
Will believes the awareness raising activities which will be carried out at both the Premier League clash with Arsenal at Molineux and the FAWNL Northern Premier meeting with Derby County at SEAH Stadium, will be vitally important to supporting Wolves’ ongoing commitment to environmental sustainability.
“The focus fixtures are really important,” Will explained. “Our fixtures are where we, as players, can probably engage the most with our fans.
“It’ll be really good to allow fans to ask questions and support them on their journeys, as well as to help educate them and take what I've learned from the club and from other projects that I'm involved in and pass it on to them.”

Dan Bentley | Men’s first-team goalkeeper
“Climate change, and how we can tackle it, is one of the most important conversations we can be having at this time. Sometimes it can feel overwhelming, but if we all make small changes in our lives and contribute to help the future of the planet, it makes a big difference.
“I’m proud to play my part in raising awareness as an ambassador for One Pack, One Planet at Wolves.”
Steve Sutton | Facilities, safety & security director
“Wolves have a huge responsibility to respond to climate change. We have an important influence across the city of Wolverhampton and our community, which makes it especially important that we take action ourselves as well as try to educate and inform others.
“I’m pleased with the progress we’ve made having launched One Pack, One Planet about two years ago and will continue to drive sustainability as part of everything we do going forward.”
Gemma Frith | Presenter/producer
“Sustainability is something I’ve always been passionate about. I cut meat out of my diet several years ago, and I choose to walk and travel by public transport instead of driving, including on matchdays.
“I’m proud to be a One Pack, One Planet ambassador and do my bit to make my club as green as it can be!”
