The goalkeeper has established himself as the under-23s’ regular number one during the past three seasons and features in Nuno Espirito Santo’s first-team training on a day to day basis.
The Dane’s development has been impressive since his arrival in January 2018 from Odense Boldklub, where he’d progressed through the youth system.
A key part of Nuno’s support bubble from the Academy, the 19-year-old was handed a place on the bench for last season’s Europa League clash with Besiktas at Molineux.
This season, the impressive performances have continued, not least when his stunning saves, clean sheet and assist helped defeat Fulham in the Premier League 2 Division 1 last month.
General manager for football technical, Scott Sellars, said: “We’ve shown over the past few months that it’s about securing our best young talent, keeping them in the building to develop and keep progressing, and we feel Andreas is really developing as a goalkeeper.
“He came with a lot of potential, but each year he’s growing physically and as a goalkeeper we can see his improvement. He gets a lot of opportunities to develop, working with Rui [Patricio] and John [Ruddy], top goalkeepers who help him a lot, and Rui [Barbosa] is a great goalkeeper coach as well.
“We’ve been talking quite a while, these conversations have been ongoing, but it was a good time with Christmas coming up. He’s been around the first-team for six months this year and a lot last year and we thought he deserved a new contract.
“The next six months he’ll be around the first-team and under-23s, carrying on what he’s doing now, and in the summer we’ll assess if the right step for his progression would be a loan move, or if he stays, but we’re really pleased with his progression.”
