Joe Young has completed a love move to Buxton, who he will spend the remainder of the 2023/24 season with.
Goalkeeper Young is set for his first loan spell of the season and a fourth of his career as he joins National League North outfit Buxton.
The 21-year-old has previously featured for Runcorn Linnets and Matlock Town, but already has sixth tier experience with Dartford and Telford United.
Young has played in 11 games in all competitions for James Collins’ under-21s this season, but now joins Craig Elliott’s Buxton who sit 19th in the National League North standings.
And pathways manager Steve Davis believes it is important for Young to go out and gain minutes at first-team level, as another goalkeeper looks to make his mark on the men’s game.
“Joe just needs to get out there and play and for people to watch him. He’s a very talented goalkeeper and has got an opportunity to produce that. He’s better doing that than playing for the under-21s.
“Men’s football gives you eyes and ears everywhere. Without being out there and performing every week, people don’t see you. He’s got a lot to give and hopefully he can produce that at Buxton and people will see the ability he’s got.”
