PL Cup preview | Wolves vs Huddersfield

Wolves under-21s begin their Premier League Cup campaign on Thursday evening.

Huddersfield Town are the visitors to Telford United’s SEAH Stadium as James Collins’ side kick-start the first of six fixtures in Group D.

Alongside the Old Gold and the Terriers are Sheffield United and Sunderland, with the top team in each group guaranteed a place in the knockout stages. The six best second-placed teams will also qualify.

Despite being beaten in their opening two Premier League 2 encounters, Wolves have gone on to earn a point on the road at Brighton & Hove Albion in a 1-1 draw.

Last week, the youngsters battled their way to a 2-2 draw in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy at Port Vale, but are still awaiting their first win of the season.

Huddersfield are competing in the Central League and began with a 3-2 defeat at Salford City at the end of last month.

In this competition last season, Wolves bowed out in the group stages after coming up against Charlton Athletic, AFC Bournemouth and Norwich City.
