Wolves under-21s continue their Premier League Cup campaign at Sunderland on Monday evening.
One win and one defeat from their opening two fixtures is the record so far for James Collins’ side who now head into their third group stage game.
Wolves were 4-0 winners over Huddersfield Town before being beaten at Sheffield United last month, leaving them on three points and in second place behind the Blades who are group leaders.
The Old Gold won on their last Premier League 2 outing, a 4-2 success over Everton, while they were beaten 3-0 at Wrexham in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy before the international break.
Hosts Sunderland are currently on a three-match winning run in all competitions having beaten Lyon, Derby County and Huddersfield in their last three.
The latest win came in this competition last Tuesday as the Black Cats collected their first three points of the group – they sit behind Wolves on goal difference in the table.
Graeme Murty’s side won 3-2 at the John Smith’s Stadium to collect their first three points of the Group D campaign, following on from a narrow 1-0 defeat to Sheffield United.
Sunderland and Wolves last met in the PL2 play-offs at the end of last season – a game which the Black Cats won by four goals to one, as they went on a run to the final and were beaten by eventual champions Tottenham Hotspur.
