James Collins’ side have lost just once since the turn of the year, while they are unbeaten in the league, winning their last six matches in Division 2, including a thrilling come-from-behind 4-2 win over Southampton last week, when the development side looked like their run was coming to an end with 20 minutes remaining, before three late goals.
Dexter Lembikisa opened the scoring in just the second minute having finished off a flowing team move, before Southampton hit back twice in the early stages of the second-half. However, Taylor Perry equalised just two minutes later, before Lee Harkin put Wolves back in front and Luke Cundle put the cherry on top of the cake when he and Perry linked up brilliantly and found the back of the net.
The development side have had to overcome several tough challenges during the past three months, as they moved up to third in the Division 2 table and put themselves well in the play-off mix with just five league matches left to play.
Friday evening’s opponents, Nottingham Forest, sit just five points and four places behind Collins’ men in the league table, with Wolves having a game in hand over the East Midlands side who are also pushing to make the post-season play-offs.
Forest have also picked up results in 2022 and have been finding the back of the net regularly, putting four past Aston Villa, seven past Reading, three past Sunderland and five past West Bromwich Albion last time out.

WHAT THE BOSS THINKS
Head coach James Collins said: “Like ourselves, Forest have been on a good run of form recently having not started the season as well as they probably would have liked.
“I’ve been to see them play twice in the last few weeks, when they demolished Reading 7-0, and they were very, very strong in that game, and then I went to watch them beat West Brom 5-0, so I’ve seen them score 13 goals in two games without conceding, so I know just how good they are.
“They’re a strong side, they’re physically strong, well organised and will put us under a lot of pressure. They’re also quite a senior group, which in this under-23s league gives them that little bit of an advantage.
“But if we can keep playing as we have been, stick to the game plan as we come up with a way of combatting them, then hopefully we can continue the run.”
