Wolves booked their place in the semi-finals of the Premier League Cup after Chem Campbell’s solitary goal saw James Collins’ men past EFL opposition for the second successive round in the competition.
Like against Wigan Athletic in the last 16, Wolves edged a tight encounter through a moment of quality from Campbell, who followed up his Premier League debut against Newcastle United on Friday night with a composed finish to settle the cup tie at the Weston Homes Stadium.
With a place in the last four at stake, Collins named a strong side for the trip to Peterborough, and that was reflected in their promising start. Having been the side which controlled things during the opening 20, Wolves threatened when Lee Harkin’s effort was cleared off the line by two Posh defenders.
The reliable Andreas Sondergaard stood between the sticks for the visitors and, when called into action, he did what was required of him, as the Dane dropped to his left to keep out an effort from former Nottingham Forest man Jorge Grant.
A chance apiece was the story of the opening period, with little to choose between the two sides, but Wolves had been there before in the last round against the Latics, so knew an up in intensity could change everything in this competition.

54 minutes were on the clock when Wolves made their quality show. Between Harkin and Joe Hodge, the old gold regained possession in midfield and the latter strode forward before playing a perfectly weighted through ball to Campbell, who did the rest, slotting home low with his left foot.
The chance to put the game beyond Posh came soon after when Hugo Bueno was sent scampering down the left, into the box, but with Perry unmarked in the middle, the wing-back went for goal and watched his left-footed strike pushed away at the near post.
During the closing stages, Posh asked questions of Wolves, but between the sticks, Sondergaard remained solid and dealt with any aerial battles asked of him. In possession Wolves were professional during the closing stages to see out a seventh win in nine in all competitions.
