James Collins’ side came unstuck in the league for the first time in seven matches last time out having fallen to Nottingham Forest at Meadow Lane, but the development side bounced back in the Premier League Cup quarter-finals with a victory at Peterborough United.
Chem Campbell’s neat finish after clever work from Lee Harkin and Joe Hodge saw the development side into the final four of the competition and saw them get back to winning ways after earning six on the bounce in the league during the past few months.
Despite defeat to Forest, Wolves held on to their place in the Division 2 play-off places with the team currently at in fifth spot, but with games in hand over the teams above them, three points would move Collins’ men up to second in the standings before facing a double header at Molineux in the next fortnight.
Friday afternoon’s opponents sit third from bottom in the table, with a game in hand over basement club Reading, but Boro have picked up their results in recent weeks, earning a 4-2 win over Newcastle United at home, while securing a point against runaway league leaders Fulham.
Like Wolves, Middlesbrough are also into the semi-finals of the Premier League Cup thanks to their quarter-final win away at Stoke City last week.

WHAT THE BOSS THINKS
Head coach James Collins is looking forward to another test against a side from the north east, insisting that his players are in good spirits as the season edges closer to its conclusion.
“We’re enjoying our football at the moment. We’ve won seven out of our last eight football matches, and when you’re winning games, players are enjoying playing.
“We’ll go up to Middlesbrough and face a team who are hard to beat. Stereotypically, all the north east teams are very competitive and hardworking, and play at a very high tempo, so anything you can get when you travel up there you have to learn and Friday will be no different.
“We’ll try to go up there and do a job, and if we can do that and play to the best of our ability, I’m sure we can continue our good run.”
