Fergusson | On Oxford victory and settling into life at Wolves

Wolves Women ended their pre-season campaign with a convincing 4-1 victory over Oxford United Women on Sunday afternoon.

Someone who was keen to make an impression on Dan McNamara this summer was new signing Olivia Fergusson, and she did so to some effect, opening the scoring after just 19 seconds on Sunday, as the lifelong supporter of the club prepares for the start of the FAWNL Northern Premier Division season next weekend having joined from Celtic in the off-season.

On the Oxford win

“I’m really pleased with the result first of all. I think we had some really good spells in the game. I think we’re looking good going into the season next weekend.”

On scoring for her girlhood club

“It was so good, such a really good feeling. I think you could tell from my celebration that I was really pleased just to get the first one. Hopefully there’s more to come!”

On life as a Wolves player

Fergusson admits she is “settling in really well” after making the move down from Scotland in the summer.

“To be honest, it’s a really easy team to settle into. The girls are lovely, the staff are great. It’s going really well and I’m thoroughly enjoying it.”

On the opener against Derby

“I think we’re ready, the squad looks good. We’ve got a great squad with great depth. We’re ready to go.”

The aforementioned opener of the season for Wolves Women against Derby County Women kicks off at 14:00 on Sunday 20th August at Mickleover Sports Club.
