Originally scheduled for 2pm, kick-off has been pushed back one hour to 3pm as a result of England’s progression into the Women’s World Cup final on Sunday morning.
Wolves head into the season opener at Mickleover FC following the completion of their pre-season schedule, which was rounded off with a 4-1 home victory over Oxford United last weekend.
As for the hosts, Derby also concluded their pre-season with a win, as goals from Yasmin Mosby, Eleanor Ashton and Jess Camwell secured a 3-1 success over MK Dons.
Only Nottingham Forest, Wolves and Burnley finished ahead of Sam Griffiths’ side in fourth last time out, with the Rams consistently competing at the top end of the table season on season.
The Old Gold were unfortunate to miss out on a second successive league title in 2022/23, as Forest agonisingly took first place on goal difference, before the team ended on a high by lifting back-to-back Birmingham County Cups.
In this fixture last season, Ali Miller made all the difference as she came off the bench to net twice in the final 15 minutes to ensure a 3-1 away win for her side.
McNamara could give Wolves debuts to summer signings Liv Fergusson, Ellie Wilson, Merrick Will and Hannah Fryer on Sunday, with all four having joined the club over the last couple of months.
Preparing for matchday one.
