Wolves 3 (George 5, Hughes 60, Greengrass 62) Ipswich Town 2
Wolves Women rounded off pre-season with a 3-2 victory over Ipswich Town at Compton Park on Sunday afternoon.
Tammi George, Amber Hughes and Charlotte Greengrass were all on the scoresheet as Dan McNamara’s side concluded preparations for 2024/25 on the right side of a five-goal thriller.
The Old Gold made the perfect start when they opened the scoring in the fifth minute, as George won the ball in the attacking third and cleverly placed her effort past the goalkeeper who was out of position.
Ipswich reacted swiftly when they equalised one minute later, but Wolves continued to progress with the ball and came close to finding the final touch when new signing Greengrass rattled the underside of the crossbar, but her effort did not cross the white paint.
Both teams enjoyed spells of possession, but neither team could find the back of the net as they went in all square at the break.

After the interval, Town took the lead for the first time in the game after a long-range effort, but McNamara’s side responded instantly when Hughes forced Natalia Negri into action after her effort was denied from close range.
Wolves got back on level terms just 10 minutes after conceding, as a set piece delivered by Anna Morphet was flicked on by George into the path of Hughes, who made no mistake on the turn and found the bottom corner.
Two minutes later, Wolves regained their advantage through a towering Greengrass header after she got on the end of a fantastic cross from Katie Johnson inside the area.
The home side used their game management to see out the game and send Wolves fans home happy on a sunny afternoon at the Sir Jack Hayward Training Ground.
With pre-season now complete, Wolves Women return to the SEAH Stadium to face Stourbridge Women to kick off their FA Women’s National League Northern Premier Division campaign.
