Toussaint | 'You're going to get punished for mistakes'

Destiney Toussaint is looking for Wolves Women to be sharper and play to their strengths following a heavy defeat to Nottingham Forest on Sunday.

The Old Gold conceded six at the SEAH Stadium and were well-beaten by the Reds, and Toussaint says Wolves got punished for their mistakes. However, after four months out injured, Toussaint was pleased to get back onto the pitch on a personal level and is looking forward to helping the team moving forward after a positive cameo.

On needing to do better

“It was a tough one. I think we started well and the goals in the first half came from set pieces and wide areas.

“We know we've got to do better at defending those. We went 1-0 down and a few heads dropped, and before we knew it, we’re 3-0 down.

“We've got to learn to keep focused when we concede, keep our heads up and keep fighting and be better at defending from out wide.”

On areas to improve on

“It's just marking your players, tracking runners being switched on in the box and essentially putting bodies on the line and clearing the ball.

“We’ve just got to be sharper. We've got to play to our strengths, do what we're good at, take less touches on the ball, find each other a lot better.

“We need to do what we do in training week in, week out. Today, we got caught, and we got punished against a good side.

“No offence to some of the other teams, but you might get away with it in some of the other games in the league, but playing against Forest, you're going to get punished for mistakes, and that's what happened today.”

On her return to the pitch

“It's been a long time, but I'm so pleased to get out there. I'm so pleased to get back on the pitch with the girls.

“I think I need a new set of lungs, but we're getting there. I really enjoyed getting out there, getting back in the mix, and hopefully I can push on and get back to what I do.”
