McNamara | 'I thought we showed character'

Dan McNamara was pleased with the way his side navigated their way through a 5-2 win on the road at Sporting Khalsa on Wednesday night.

Wolves Women extended their unbeaten run to four games after a comfortable victory against their local rivals, and McNamara spoke about getting the three points, Layla Banaras and Hannah Fryer starting in the side and preparing for Plate action against AFC Fylde on Sunday.

On getting the three points

These are the kind of games you’ve just got to get your three points and leave, it’s not a game that I will want to watch back quickly.

“I thought we showed character and made some really good moves and passages of play.

“Khalsa made it difficult for us, they were dangerous on the counter attack but we’ll take the three points.”

On Banaras and Fryer starting the game

They’re both great players and they’ve been waiting for their opportunity.

“It’s hard after not playing for a long time to come in composed and take that chance, I thought they both did really well tonight.

“I know they’ll be desperate to get back on the pitch and we’ve got another job to do on Sunday.”

On searching for silverware in the Plate competition

We’ve never been involved in it, but any competition we are in we want to do well in.

“If it gives us an occasion, a memory or a trophy to play for in April then we want to be a part of it.

“We’ll certainly be looking to go strong on Sunday and win the game.”
