Fryer | 'We know there’s a lot to work on'

Hannah Fryer was happy to get the three points in Wolves Women’s victory away at Sporting Khalsa Women on Wednesday night, despite the team not being at their best in the eyes of the defender.

Dan McNamara’s side stretched their unbeaten run to four games after their 5-2 win, and Fryer believes the quality and resilience in the squad helped them come from behind to win.

On the performance

“I think by our standards we know it wasn’t the performance we wanted to put in, we can do a lot better.

“We’re happy to get the three points, under the lights, in a derby game, but we know there’s a lot to work on going into the games going forward.”

On her start

“It felt good, I had to be patient, but I knew I was ready to come in whenever the team needed me so I’m happy to get 90 minutes in tonight.”

On the belief around the squad

“It shows a lot of resilience in the team. We’ve talked about not letting our heads go down, I think their first goal was against the run of play.

“I think we always had the belief to come back and get the win, something we have been working on so happy with the win.”

On Racheal Quigley’s addition to the squad

“It feels amazing, we have had Quigs train with us for a long time now and we’re all really happy to have her on board.

“You only saw a snippet of her tonight, but she is absolutely quality and I’m looking forward to her getting more game time.”

On Sunday’s game against AFC Fylde

“We’ll have a day off tomorrow to recover, then reset and focus on the game, we know what we need to do.

“It’s about recovery going into the weekend to make sure we’re all fresh, some of the other girls might be involved so protect the squad and we go again in the Plate.”
