Clarke | 'I’m just happy to get the win and a clean sheet'

Wolves Women debutant Charlotte Clarke said it felt great to get the clean sheet that helped her team progress past AFC Fylde in the FAWNL Plate.

Despite wholesale changes from their last game, Wolves were 3-0 victors over Sunday’s opponents in the Plate competition, and goalkeeper Clarke was happy with the team’s win on her debut.

On the performance

“I thought we were a bit slow from the start but once we got into the game, we were a lot better.

“We had a lot of chances going forward that we didn’t quite get in the first half, but in the second half we managed to put those away better.

“I think, overall, towards the end we had a better performance.”

On her debut

“It felt good, I was really happy. I think for myself as well it probably took me a while to get into the game but once I was in it I got more comfortable.

“I’m just happy to get the win and a clean sheet.”

On her clean sheet

“It’s great. It’s given me a lot of confidence, so it’s made me really happy.

On her teammates

“They’ve been amazing, all the girls have been really welcoming and great, really supportive and we got that clean sheet today as a squad. I’m really happy coming in.”

On the next game against Rugby Borough

“We’re looking to get three points, working hard in training this week by putting in 110% to get those three points.”
