Greengrass | 'We were ruthless'

Charlotte Greengrass admitted she was ‘buzzing’ after scoring four goals in Sunday’s Black Country derby demolition of West Bromwich Albion.

Wolves Women defeated their local rivals by a scoreline of 8-0 as the Old Gold ran riot at The Hawthorns, and Greengrass spoke post-match on winning the derby, finding her finishing touch and taking the momentum into next Sunday’s FAWNL Plate tie at Cheltenham Town.

On the performance and getting three points

I think it’s hard to sum up into words, we really wanted to build on last week. We were ruthless and it’s even sweeter that it’s a derby - I am buzzing.

“I think it’s huge. It’s something that we spoke about after last week and putting in a battle and having that fight.

“I think that is what we did, we bedded into the game and got the first goal then we dominated the game.

On scoring four and her recent form

“I have been unlucky with my goalscoring, I think it’s all just starting to click into place now.

“I really feel bedded in with the group and just getting in the right areas, as a team it all clicked and to do it on an occasion like this at The Hawthorns is special.”

On keeping a clean sheet

I think everyone across the pitch is hungry to get the ball back.

“We say about loving defending and when the ball is turned over we want to be ruthless in those moments. We don’t want to give any team that we play a sniff of the ball in and out of possession.

“We have been really dominant across the whole pitch.”

Looking ahead to Cheltenham Town

I think it’s a chance for us to rotate a little bit. Macca has spoken about a cup run and getting people minutes.

“We played Cheltenham in pre-season, so we know a bit of what they’re about and we want to keep that successful Plate run going.”
